I just got this Sony 70-350mm telephoto lens to use with my Sony A6400. The lens isn’t extremely long or heavy but unlike say the A6600 (and the other high-end Alpha series), the A6400’s mount collar is REALLY shallow at what seems to be just about 5-7mm (I didn’t measure it). I just felt uncomfortable having an ~625g lens hanging off such a slim collar being supported by just around 525g on the other end (my camera + metal SmallRig cage). That kinda physics just didn’t make sense to me.

So, I looked into supports and came across this one. The thing about this telephoto lens support is, at least as I see it, is that it can be used with MULTIPLE telephoto lenses unlike lens-specific collars, which will cost a whole lot more for each lens. Also, this support is fully metal (just like my Leofoto head which you see here, and my Leofoto tripod). I’ve only gotten into Leofoto products just over a year ago and so far they’ve been solid. And of course, they are well-constructed – and beautiful.
